Overview

CenSEPS members conduct fundamental research to: develop next generation energy sources by focusing on new materials technology to produce electricity and fuel from renewable sources at dramatically reduced costs; develop systems test-beds in order to allow for optimization of systems rather than components, and the co-optimization of energy generation, distribution and consumption; evaluate multiple systems based upon thermal, wind, solar, wave and biological energy sources; consider trade-offs between local and distant power generation and distribution; create sensor networks and intelligent infrastructure for energy systems control, operation and management and their application in energy consumption, distribution and production contexts. The Center partners with other energy research institutes, both within the United States and abroad so as to develop an international approach to solve the critical problems delaying the deployment of renewable energy resources.
